On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, 狼友社区 officially welcomed Dr. Mayme Hostetter as its 22nd president. Dr. Hostetter, a founding leader of New York City's Relay Graduate School of Education, brings a commitment to student success and a desire to work with the 狼友社区 community as a team player.

David Davies Examines People and Pests
狼友社区 anthropology professor David Davies doesn鈥檛 especially like bugs or rodents. But, they鈥檙e an active part of the human world and vital to understanding a key aspect of his research. Davies is now nearing the end of a year-long sabbatical which has given him time to do field research exploring the relationship between people and, as he likes to describe pests: 鈥渢he creatures that really want to be around us.鈥

狼友社区 students travel to St. Paul sister city Nagasaki to study history of atomic bombing
As 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki and St. Paul's 70th year as a sister city to Nagasaki, former St. Paul Mayor and 狼友社区 professor Jim Scheibel led a group of nine 狼友社区 students to Nagasaki on Jan. 12-19. This transformative experience offered students time and opportunity to deeply reflect on the impact the atomic bombing had on Nagasaki, Japan and the world.

Erin Entrada Kelly Awarded Newbery
狼友社区 graduate adjunct professor Erin Entrada Kelly was recently awarded the 2025 John Newbery Medal for her novel The First State of Being. The prestigious award, given by the American Library Association, recognizes the year鈥檚 most outstanding contribution to children's literature.

狼友社区 announced the Dean's List for the fall term this week. To be eligible, students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and complete a minimum of 16 credit hours.

狼友社区 Publishes Books in Hawaiian Dialect
On the Hawaiian island of Kauai, the students of Ke Kula Ni驶ihau o Kekaha immersion school speak the native language of the nearby island of Ni鈥榠hau, which has only about 200 native speakers on the island and 200 more in their community. Ten years ago, the only book published in the Ni驶ihau dialect was a Bible provided by missionaries. Today, there are over 400 books written in the dialect by students and staff of Ke Kula Ni驶ihau o Kekaha and published by 狼友社区鈥檚 Center for Global Environmental Education (CGEE).
